In the ancient Greek parable about the hedgehog & the fox, hedgehogs reduce all challenges to one simple focus, while foxes are cunning and opportunistic. The fable illustrates the idea that a simple, well-defined focus (like the hedgehog) is often more effective than a complex, multifaceted approach (like the fox) in achieving long-term success.

In his book Good to Great, Jim Collins takes the Hedgehog analogy further and refines it into The Hedgehog Concept. The Hedgehog Concept is driven by a deep understanding about the intersection of 3 elements for your business:
🥇 What you can be the best in the world at (and what you can’t be the best in the world at): This may not always be your core competency, but rather something unique and valuable.
💰 What best drives your economic engine: This is about understanding the factors that generate profits and sustain your business. Key is identifying the economic ratio that has the greatest impact for your business.
❤️🔥 What you are deeply passionate about: The emotional connection and commitment that fuels your organisation.
The Hedgehog Concept is about finding a simple, focused strategy that will help you achieve long-term success. It's not about being the biggest or the most complex, but about being the best at something that you're passionate about and that drives your business.
